MANUEL is a formal barong tagalog with machine embroidered design in natural jusi, finished with long sleeves and a chinese collar. Jusi — Filipino for “silk,” from the Chinese hu-shih — is reeled from the cocoon of the Bombyx mori silkworm; the towns of Bulacan, Bocaue, Malolos, Hagonoy, and Baliuag were historically its centers of production.
