RICARDO

RICARDO is a half open formal barong in natural piña-silk, finished with long sleeves and a regular collar. Piña-silk blends the country’s most storied fiber — hand-extracted from pineapple-leaf tissue — with silk, historically reserved for the most formal tier of barong tagalog and baro’t saya. Its suksok embroidery — a supplementary weft-float technique built directly into the weave rather than stitched on afterward — is one of the oldest embellishment methods used on piña and jusi barong. This half-open construction is known as “pechera” (from the Spanish pecho, “chest”) — the oldest and most classic barong style, with embroidery concentrated along the chest opening. Tagged by the maker for formal occasions, wedding wear. Part of the EN Barong Filipino line, categorized as men’s barong.
